I originally was going to buy a Jet 22-44, but after reading its reviews I became a bit skeptical. I have a medium sized shop, and build everything myself. Its been a tough go the past couple of years, and now that the economy is springing back I had some extra to by a nice drum sander. This was an important purchase for me, I needed the ability to truly and accurately dimension my solid wood, which was something that I was not getting from the local hardwood distributors. My helical planer does a good job of hogging out to thickness, but was incapable of producing the final touch. I had been using hand planes and r.o. sanders for that, which was tedious and fallible. So, I really needed this purchase to work out. I decided on the Supermax 19-38, which I purchased from Circle Saw. It took me all of 2 hrs to assemble, set-up, and dial in. Very easy. This machine is quiet, consistent, and accurate. I have put calipers all over my test pieces and they are true. In short I got what I needed for a very reasonable price. With the money I saved from not buying the 22-44, I sprung for the table extensions. The caster upgrade was a bit pricey so I opted out on that. The service people were very helpful, and even walked me through a few things with a unit that was built in the back. Overall, this was the best tool purchase that I have made in years. I got the kind of tool that we all like - one that works right without a bunch of rocket science. Thanks Circle Saw
